Mercedes-Benz has extensively revised the four-door CLS Coupe. This design icon features a honed front section and a further upgraded interior that boasts lots of new, perfectly handcrafted details, combining contemporary luxury with passionate sportiness. In addition, it also brings ground-breaking technical innovations to the road. The futuristic MULTIBEAM LED headlamps open up new dimensions in lighting systems. The redesigned CLS-Class boasts a glittering design with thrilling proportions, now fine-tuned to meet contemporary high-tech standards. Its allure is undiminished, characterized by a stretched hood, slim window profile with frameless side windows, and a sleek, downward-sloping roof.
Innovative Advances in Lighting Technology
The latest models are now standard-equipped with all-LED headlights in a fresh design. Additionally, there’s the option to upgrade to the innovative MULTIBEAM LED headlights, a groundbreaking development from Mercedes-Benz. This technology merges the best of current lighting systems, instantly and automatically adapting light distribution to almost any driving condition, ensuring unparalleled extensive and intense road illumination without blinding other drivers.
This advanced lighting system utilizes a windshield-mounted camera and four control units per vehicle to calculate the perfect light pattern 100 times per second, controlling all 24 high-performance LEDs in each precision LED module quickly and individually, with 255 adjustable brightness levels. The result is the rapid and precise, anti-glare continuous main beam that illuminates the road and its edges much brighter than before.
Enhanced Visibility around Bends and Curves
The MULTIBEAM LED headlamps also include a low-beam module capable of swiveling outward up to twelve degrees, offering an active light function with a pre-emptive swiveling feature and optimal illumination around bends. This anticipatory control allows additional visibility range, enhancing safety during bends.
Unique curve lighting activates cornering light functions before entering roundabouts, ensuring optimal visibility. The vehicle’s navigation system informs the headlamps of upcoming roundabouts.
Sporty and Luxurious Interior
The CLS’s interior is a blend of spaciousness, sporty elegance, impeccable craftsmanship, and top-tier materials. The latest generation amplifies these qualities with enhanced sportiness, exclusivity, and functionality.
A new 8-inch color display modernizes the dashboard, complemented by a redesigned sports steering wheel and numerous exquisite details, reflecting the interior’s superior quality. The central control panel now features four buttons, streamlining operations. A range of interior colors and trim finishes allows for extensive customization.
Powerful and Efficient Engines
The CLS400 is powered by a new 3.0L V6 bi-turbo engine, delivering 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. The CLS550 boasts a 4.6L bi-turbo V8 engine, producing 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Revolutionary 9-Speed Automatic Transmission
The vehicle introduces the world’s first 9-speed automatic transmission in the premium segment, building upon the strengths of its 7-speed predecessor, reducing fuel consumption and enhancing both comfort and agility. The CLS550 rear-wheel drive is the first model to feature this new transmission.
Uncompromised Safety Standards
The CLS-Class now includes a variety of new and upgraded safety systems as standard, including COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, and offers optional state-of-the-art assistance systems from the E-Class and S-Class.
Seamless Connectivity and Multimedia
A new multimedia generation promises intuitive operation, while the Audio 20 CD and optional COMAND Online infotainment systems enhance connectivity. The vehicle supports internet browsing when stationary, a variety of audio and video playback options, and the new Garmin® MAP PILOT navigation system for the CLS400, or COMAND Online’s advanced 3D hard-disc navigation for the CLS550.
Standard HD Voice-Capable Bluetooth® Telephony
Both the basic Audio 20 CD system and COMAND Online support HD Voice-capable basic telephony, connecting mobile phones to the vehicle via a standardized Bluetooth® interface, ensuring superior voice quality. Future connectivity to high-speed LTE networks is also anticipated with compatible smartphones.
